Delhi: Clash between Pro-CAA & Anti-CAA Protesters Leads to Head Constable's Death

New Delhi, February 24, 2020:

Delhi Police’s Head Constable has died amid clashes between Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) supporters and protesters in Northeast part of the national capital.

Deputy Commissioner of Police also sustained injuries in the stone pelting incident in Gokulpuri area of Delhi. Named Ratan Lal, the head constable died in Maujpur area during violence between the two CAA parties.

Delhi Police informed that the Lal was posted in the Gokulpuri area, where the violence was reported.

The DCP, Shahdara named Amit Sharma, who sustained injuries was rushed to the hospital. Doctors have declared him out of danger.

It needs mention here that protests had erupted following Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kapil Mishra gave an ultimatum to Delhi Police to free the protest sites. Clashes have been on since Sunday, where at least 500 people, mainly women and children turned up outside the Jaffrabad Metro Station in northeast Delhi.

Tension prevails in near the Jaffrabad metro station which connects Seelampur with Maujpur and Yamuna Vihar.
