Delhi airport has cancelled at least 37 flights due to heavy smog in the city. All private and government schools will also remain closed as announced by authorities.
Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) on Sunday fell in the ‘severe plus’ category, due to which at least 37 flights have been diverted from the city’s airport. According to reports, Air India had diverted 12 flights since 9 am. Vistara and other airlines also diverted their flights following heavy smog at the airport.

All the schools, private and government-run, till Class 12 in Noida and Greater Noida will also remain closed on November 4 and 5 due to severe AQI levels.
It may be mentioned here that the air quality of the national capital has worsened post Diwali. The overall AQI was recorded at 625, according to the data released by the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).
An AQI between 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’ and 401-500 ‘severe’. Above 500 falls in the ‘severe-plus emergency’ category. Currently, Delhi’s AQI falls in the ‘severe-plus emergency’ category.
