Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday revealed the election strategy of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Terming the BJP party's strategy as a trishool (or trident), Ramesh said that the party uses three main issues to poke people with in order to win elections. "Mr Amit Shah and Mr Narendra Modi have a very powerful instrument in their hands; in trishool there are 3 things to poke with, ED, CBI, Income, tax, you poke this trishool, you will win majority", Ramesh said.

"You poke this trishool, you will get majority", he said, adding that the party will fight the political system and seek to forge an alliance of 'like-minded people. "Our opposition is principled opposition", Ramesh claimed.

Taking a dig at the Prime Minister, he said that the Indian Prime Minister is 'insulting' the Indian Constitution by celebrating 70th Anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution, while at the same time introducing anti-Constitutional Bills, such as the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

It may be mentioned here that the BJP won a historic mandate in the 2019 elections, and handily defeated defeating the Congress, winning 303 of the Lok Sabha Seats. Narendra Modi was re-elected for a second term as the Indian Prime Minister.
