The Delhi District court has sentenced life imprisonment to the expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted for kidnapping and raping a woman in Unnao in 2017.
Kuldeep Singh Sengar has also been asked to pay a fine of Rs 25 lakh to the victim apart from serving the life sentence.

Delhi District Judge Dharmesh Sharma quoted, "This court does not find any mitigating circumstance. Kuldeep Singh Sengar was public servant and betrayed people's faith," while sentencing the life imprisonment. It has also directed that the rape survivor be paid an additional amount of Rs 10 lakh as compensation.
It may be mentioned here that on December 16 2019, Kuldeep Singh Sengar was convicted for the rape and on December 20 was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The court convicted Sengar for rape under the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act for offence by a public servant committing penetrative sexual assault against a child after holding the victim to be a minor.
Kuldeep Singh Sengar is a Member of legislative assembly, and belonged to Bhartiya Janta Party from Bangarmau, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has been convicted of rape, murder, attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation.
The expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar broke down in the courtroom at Tis Hazari District Court complex after he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
