NEW DELHI: Within hours of receiving the union government’s draft proposal to amend the new farm laws, farmer unions on Wednesday rejected the proposal. They have threatened to intensify protests in the coming days.

Farmers will boycott all Jio, Reliance, Adani products including SIM cards. If they’re using existing Jio SIM cards, they will get new ones. they said.

The draft proposals are vague, the farmers said, adding that they will block one road after another.

As farmers agitation against the Centre’s three contentious farm laws entered day 14, the Centre today proposed to give a “written assurance” that the existing Minimum Support Price (MSP) regime for procurement will continue.

In a draft proposal sent to 13 agitating farmer unions, the Centre also assured registration of all private mandis to strengthen AMPC.

This comes a day after meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah failed to break the deadlock.  The meeting scheduled for today with Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar – the sixth since the protests started – has been called off after farm leaders refused to attend it.

Yesterday, farm leaders had a meeting with Amit Shah to discuss amendments. The Government suggested a proposal. Farmers have rejected it. Protests will become nationwide from today onwards.

They will block Delhi-Jaipur Highway, Delhi Agra highway from 12th December. Govt will not be allowed to operate till plaza.
