Former Kolkata top cop Rajeev Kumar on Friday appeared before the CBI in the multi-crore Sarada Scam case.
This is the first time he has deposed before CBI in Kolkata.
Earlier he was grilled by a special team of CBI in Shillong as per Supreme Court’s order.
Kumar has been summoned multiple times by the Central Bureau of Investigation in recent weeks but failed to appear as he said he was on leave.
Kumar reached the central agency's Kolkata Office at the CGO Complex here at around 10.30 a.m.
He is currently posted as the Additional Director General of West Bengal CID.
In January, the Centre and the Mamata Banerjee government had an unprecedented stand-off after a CBI team reached Kumar’s residence to question him.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has begun questioning Rajeev Kumar, Kolkata Police Commissioner in Shillong on February 9 in connection with the Saradha chit fund case. The Commissioner has been moved to the CBI office in Meghalaya from Tripura House under tight security.
