Four terrorists including a former Special Police Officer (SPO) turned extremist were gunned down by security forces in an encounter in South Kashmir on Friday morning.
The encounter took place in Lassipora in Pulwama district. Security forces launched a search operation after getting inputs about the presence of militants in the area. The encounter was underway since Thursday evening.

Bodies of the militants, along with two AK 47 rifles, one AKM (Modernized Kalashnikov Automatic Rifle) and one self-loading rifle (SLR) have been recovered by the troops.
The former SPO, killed in the encounter, had decamped with a service rifle in Pulwama and allegedly joined a militant group. He was killed within 24 hours after joining the militants.
Two to three terrorists are reportedly still trapped in the area.
