Four-time Chief Minister of Goa and former Union Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar who passed away on Sunday has been laid to rest at Miramar beach next to the memorial of the state's first CM Dayanand Bandodkar.
Manohar Parrikar has been accorded state funeral with full military honours at Miramar.
The final rites of Manohar Parrikar were performed in Miramar Beach in Goa in the presence of family members, top leaders and thousands of his followers.
The funeral was attended by Vijai Sardesai, Congress leader Girish Chodonkar, MPs Narendra Sawaikar, and Shripad Naik, Ramdas Athawale, Suresh Prabhu, NSA Ajit Doval, PM Narendra Modi, and BJP chief Amit Shah.
Manohar Parrikar passed away at 63. He had been Chief Minister of Goa since 14 March 2017. Previously he was Chief Minister of Goa from 2000-2005 and again from 2012-2014.
Parrikar had been diagnosed with a ‘pancreatic ailment’ last year and had been in and out of hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi, and New York since February 2018.
