Guwahati, September 16, 2019:

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that the state will soon prepare a citizens' list to check illegal immigration, similar to that of the recently published National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.

The statement came up after holding a meeting with former Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba and retired High Court judge HS Bhalla to discuss the issue in Haryana's Panchkula

Khattar said, “In Haryana we will implement NRC along the lines of Assam.”

He added that he would soon visit Assam to inspect the implementation of NRC in Haryana.

Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari has demanded a National Register of Citizens (NRC) like the one that is being exercised in Assam, in national capital New Delhi.

It is to be mentioned that the recently published NRC in Assam has led to a lot of controversies. Over 19 lakh people were excluded from the NRC final list.

The actor-turned-politician said that the situation had become so dangerous that it was necessary to have NRC. He added that the illegal immigrants settled in Delhi were the most dangerous.
