The Delhi High court granted bail to JNU students Devangana Kalita and Natasha Narwal along with Jamia Millia Islamia student Asif Iqbal Tanha on Monday who were booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the northeast Delhi riots conspiracy last year in February.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High court granted bail to 'Pinjra Tod' activists JNU students Devangana Kalita and Natasha Narwal along with Jamia Millia Islamia student Asif Iqbal Tanha on Monday who were booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the northeast Delhi riots conspiracy last year in February.

The court directed the activists to surrender their passports and not to influence witnesses or tamper with any pieces of evidence. It further directed them to provide their contact numbers to the local SHO and stay at the address mentioned in their prison records.

They are directed to inform the SHO in case of any change of residence.

The accused persons have been ordered not to indulge in any unlawful activities while out on bail.

The trio was arrested in May last year in connection with the riots in northeast Delhi.

The riot resulted in the death of over 50 people while more than 200 were injured.
