IAF Pays Tribute to 'Air Warriors' Who Lost Lives in AN-32 Crash

New Delhi, June 13, 2019:

The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Friday has paid tribute to the 'air warriors' who lost their lives after an AN-32 aircraft belonging to the Air Force crashed in the Payum circle of Arunachal Pradesh's West Siang district.

A tweet sent out from the official Twitter handle of the IAF read: "IAF Pays tribute to the brave Air-warriors who lost their life during the An 32 crash on 03 Jun 2019 and stands by with the families of the victims. May their soul rest in peace."

All 13 persons on board the ill-fated AN32 transport aircraft of Indian Air Force, which went missing on June 3, has died in the crash, a statement issued by IAF said.

The IAF tweeted at 1.04 pm: "Eight members of the rescue team have reached the crash site today morning. IAF is sad to inform that there are no survivors from the crash of An32."

They also shared the names of the fallen warriors on Twitter. "Following air-warriors lost their life in the tragic #An32 crash - W/C GM Charles, S/L H Vinod, F/L R Thapa, F/L A Tanwar, F/L S Mohanty, F/L MK Garg, WO KK Mishra, Sgt Anoop Kumar, Cpl Sherin, LAC SK Singh, LAC Pankaj, NC(E) Putali & NC(E) Rajesh Kumar," a Tweet sent out by the IAF read.

The wreckage was found in Payum Circle of Siang district. It was spotted by a Mi-17 helicopter of the Indian Air Force, at a height of around 12,000 feet.

The plane was traveling from Jorhat in Assam to a remote military landing strip in Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh when it vanished from the radar around 1 pm on June 3.
