ISRO launches India’s first Hyperspectral Imaging Satellite

Guwahati, November 29, 2018:

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its first Hyperspectral Imaging Satellite (HySIS) on Thursday at 9.58 am from its First Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh along with 30 other satellites from eight different countries.

The satellites were launched on board the PSLV-C43 rocket and this mission marked the PSLV’s 45th mission overall.

The rocket will first release India’s newest Earth observation satellite (HysIS) at an altitude of 630 km and then move to deliver 30 other international satellites at an altitude of 504 km in two batches.

It is interesting that for the first time satellites from Australia, Spain, Columbia and Malaysia are being flown by an Indian rocket.
