MUMBAI: The Income Tax Department seized assests worth over ₹ 1,000 crore - allegedly linked to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his family members.

According to reports, five properties, including Nirmal Tower at Mumbai's iconic Nariman Point, have been seized. A sugar factory and a resort have also been seized.

Last month, tax searches were conducted at the houses and firms owned by Mr Pawar's sisters.

The action was taken by the I-T department after discovering an unaccounted income of about ₹184 crore last month during the massive search operation.
