Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik dissolved the state assembly on Wednesday night after former Chief Minister and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti claimed to form government with Congress and National Conference.
This claim was countered by Sajad Gani Lone who wrote to the Governor, claiming to form a government with the support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and PDP rebels.
According to Malik, “there is no possibility of a stable government formation by coming together of two political parties having different ideologies.” Citing the fragility of the state, dissolving the Assembly seemed to be the best course of action.
It may be mentioned that, since June the state is being rule by the Governor, after BJP ended its alliance with the PDP to topple down the Mehbooba Mufti coalition.
