Thiruvananthapuram, December 22, 2019:

Amid the ongoing protests against the amendment of the Citizenship Act by the BJP-led Central Government, people across the country have been coming up with unique ways to protest against the contentious legislation. Now, a couple from Kerala -- G L Arun Gopi and Asha Sekhar -- who are all set to get married on January 21, 2020, have used their pre-wedding shoot to send a message of protest to the Central Government.

During their pre wedding shoot, while Arun holds a placard saying "No CAA", Asha can be seen holding one with the message: "No NRC."

Meanwhile, people in Kerala have been taking active participation in the protests against the contentious legislation and people from the state have been opposing the Bill nationwide.

Recently, the video of a Kerala student, who was threatened by AVBP members, allegedly for protesting against the CAA, has gone viral.

In more recent times, Thiruvananthanan MP Shashi Tharoor, has been leading the protests against the CAA in his homestate. Yesterday, Tharoor joined in the chanting of “Azaadi!” slogans at the 'IndiaAgainstCAA_NRC' protest rally organised by the Congress unit of Kerala on Saturday.

Seas of protesters, raising their voices against the contentious CAA, can be seen the major cities in the country. Some places, like the national capital New Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow, have been razed by protests.

It may be mentioned here that as per the amenCitizenship Amendment Act, non-Muslim refugees, who came to India before December 31, 2014, to escape religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be granted Indian citizenship.
