Massive Fire Breaks Out in Delhi Factory, 35 Killed

New Delhi, December 8, 2019:

At least thirty-five people were killed after a fire broke out at a bag manufacturing factory in central Delhi on Sunday morning.

According to reports, most of people who died in the fire were laborers and they were sleeping when the fire broke out. Officials also informed that more than fifty people were inside the bag manufacturing unit in Anaj Mandi along the Rani Jhansi Road in Delhi.

The fire that broke out around 5 am is suspected to have started in an area close to the manufacturing facility. The cause of the incident is yet to established.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal termed the incident as tragic. Taking it to Twitter, he posted, “V v tragic news. Rescue operations going on. Firemen doing their best. Injured are being taken to hospitals.”

As many as thrity fire trucks were deployed at the site to control the situation. Fire officials said that the ones trapped in the fire inside the factory were rescued and rushed to the RML and Hindu Rao Hospitals.

Traffic Police have closed the Rani Jhansi flyover near New Delhi railway station due to the incident and have asked the public to avoid using it until further orders.
