LUCKNOW: In view of the Lord Krishna Janmashtami festival, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a relaxation of the COVID-19-induced night curfew in the state on Monday and Tuesday.

Except for the night curfew, which remains in effect between 10 p.m. and a.m., the administration has abolished all restrictions.

Avanish Awasthi, the state's Additional Chief Secretary for Home, informed media that the holiday of Janmashtami would be celebrated with zeal and intensity across the state, including all police lines and prisons, as is customary.

During the festivities, however, he stated that all COVID-19 protocols would be followed.

He also stated that all devotees will be compelled to wear masks and use sanitizers.

Due to a rise in COVID cases in several areas, State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to tighten the state's night curfew.

CM Yogi Adityanath will also go to Mathura today evening to take part in the Janmashtami celebrations.
