PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate RAISE 2020, global virtual summit on Artificial Intelligence today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate mega virtual summit RAISE (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment) 2020.

The virtual global summit begins from October 5 (Monday) and ends on October 9 (Friday). The Sessions will be conducted between 10:30 am to 9 pm (IST) each day.

The RAISE 2020 has been organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in association with the NITI Aayog.

The summit will also provide a platform for global exchange ideas and chart a course for using artificial intelligence for social transformation.

According to the RAISE 2020 website, "The summit would be a global meeting of minds to exchange ideas and charter a course to use AI for social empowerment, inclusion, and transformation in key areas like Healthcare, Agriculture, Education and Smart Mobility amongst other sectors,"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the keynote address along with minister of electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad, NITI Aayog’s chief executive officer (CEO) Amitabh Kant, Reliance Industries Ltd’s chairperson and managing director Mukesh Ambani, and IBM’s CEO Arvind Krishna.

"We firmly believe that AI can help transform lives. India is developing AI-based solutions for social empowerment across spheres like healthcare, education, finance, agriculture and governance.

On the strength of its data and innovation prowess, India can become the AI laboratory of the world, delivering intuitive solutions to a wide range of societal issues,” said Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog at a press conference.

"RAISE 2020 (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment 2020) will be a global meeting of minds to exchange ideas and chart a course for using AI for social transformation, inclusion and empowerment in areas like healthcare, agriculture, education and smart mobility among other sectors," said PMO release.

RAISE 2020 will discuss vital topics such as data and AI-powered financial services,the impact of data and AI in smart cities and mobility, the role of government in AI enablement,

The role of data for responsible AI, Atmanirbhar Bharat AI start-up pitch fest, education and awareness for responsible AI, leveraging AI for pandemic preparedness, building a future-ready agricultural supply chain with AI will be discussed.

Especially, India along with Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, New Zealand and others had in June come together to establish the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) for the responsible evolution and use of AI.

However, the faith of the students who could not submit the answer scripts of the previous papers is yet to be ascertained.
