UP Police Arrests 2 Illegal Hindu Bangladeshis amid CAA Agitation

New Delhi, January 27, 2020:

Uttar Pradesh Police have apprehended two illegal Hindu Bangladeshis amid the ongoing clamor to repeal the amended Citizenship Act or CAA.

The two, identified as Manav and Keshav, have been arrested from Vrindaban area of Mathura district of UP. According to Police, they had been living in India illegally since the past eight years but the two said that it’s been 20 years since they arrived and started residing in different parts of the country.

The Police department is investigating the matter as to how they obtained forged documents and passports.

It may be mentioned here that the Indian government had recently amended the Citizenship Act or CAA and as per the new law, non-Muslim minorities who migrated to India from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan till December 31, 2014, are eligible for Indian citizenship.
