President Ram Nath Kovind has rejected Nirbhaya rape-murder convict Mukesh Singh’s mercy plea on Friday.
The rejection of Mukesh’s mercy plea on the brutal rape and murder came hours after the Ministry of Home Affairs forwarded the application to the President.

It needs mention here that earlier, the Supreme Court had declined the curative petitions of Mukesh and Vinay Sharma, convicts in the case.
Vinay, Mukesh, Akshay Singh and Pawan Gupta are the four convicts in the gruesome rape and murder of Nirbhaya (name changed) on December 16, 2012. She died on December 29, 2012 at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

The brutality of the rape had shocked the nation and tagged Delhi as the rape capital of India. It had led to massive protests across the country demanding justice for Nirbhaya and the countless crimes carried out against women.
On January 7, the four were issued death warrant for the execution of all the four on January 22.
