Guwahati, April 21, 2019:

Congress president Rahul Gandhi has rolled into a massive controversy ahead of the elections as he has been accused of providing 'false documents' while filing his nominations for the Lok Sabha election in Amethi.

The report came into notice after Independent candidate Dhruv Lal filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi’s nomination to the Returning Officer of Amethi, Ram Manohar Mishra.

Based on the complaint, Mishra has ordered the postponement of scrutiny of Rahul Gandhi’s nomination papers to April 22.

The Independent candidate alleged that Rahul’s document carried his name as “Raul Vinci” and as a British citizen.

Dhruv Lal’s lawyer Rav Prakash alleged that Gandhi has declared himself as a British citizen in the certificate of a company registered in the United Kingdom. Prakash in his complaint mentioned that a person who is not an Indian citizen is barred from contesting elections in the country under the Representation of People Act, 1951.
