Rahul Gandhi promises Rs 72,000 annual income to ‘poorest of the poor’ if Congress is voted into power

New Delhi, March 25, 2019:

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday has announced a “groundbreaking” poll promise in order to end the problem of poverty in India once and for all.

Rahul has said that if the Congress party wins the elections, 20 percent of families in the “poorest of the poor” category will be eligible to receive a handout of 72k annually from the Government.

Rahul also claimed that 5 crore families and 25 crore people will benefit directly from the intended scheme and has called it the “final assault on poverty” in the country.

The Congress chief has termed it a “historic day” for the country.  "This is a historic scheme which has not happened anywhere in the world. It is an extremely powerful, ground-breaking and well-thought through idea. We have consulted many economists on the scheme," he added
