Ready for any ‘misadventure’ by Pakistan: Indian Army

Guwahati, February 28, 2019:

A joint press briefing by Army, Navy and Air Force was held at South Block in New Delhi today. During the meeting, it was confirmed that at around 10:00 am, Indian Air Force radar detected a package of Pakistani aircraft headed towards Indian airspace west of Rajauri in Sunderbani area.

RGK Kapoor said that Indian Air Force (IAF) fighters were tasked with intercepting the intruding Pakistani aircraft and managed to thwart them. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets dropped bombs but could not cause any damage.

“One Pakistani F-16 was shot down by an IAF MiG 21 Bison Aircraft and its parts were recovered in East of Rajouri, inside Indian Territory. Also, IAF is happy that Wing Commander Abhinandan is returning tomorrow from Pakistan’s custody”, Kapoor added.

Major General Surinder Singh Mahal mentioned that despite such unwanted events, the Indian Army is committed to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Admiral Gujral of the Indian Navy announced that Indian forces are also ready for any misadventure by Pakistan and for resolute action.

All the three chiefs confirmed that Pakistan tried to destroy installations of the Indian forces.

At the end of the briefing, Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor informed that Pakistan only has F-16s that can fit an AMRAAM missile and showed the evidence of the crashed F-16 aircraft which was earlier denied by the Pakistani forces
