The Supreme Court has banned 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR as smog turns life-threatening in the region.
The court said if those vehicles found plying, they would be impounded immediately.
Earlier, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had sought a ban on such vehicles but the apex court had rejected the plea.
On October 29, considering the prevailing situation of pollution, the SC had ordered a list of these vehicles to be published on the website of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and transport department.
A Bench, comprising Justices Madan B Lokur, S Abdul Nazeer and Deepak Gupta, said advertisements regarding this should be published in newspapers.
The Bench also asked the CPCB to immediately create a social media account so that the citizens could lodge their complaints about pollution on it and the authorities can initiate action.
