KOLKATA: In a dramatic turn of events, senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and West Bengal Cabinet Minister Suvendu Adhikari today tendered his resignation to party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. A copy was sent to Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Writing to the former CM, Adhikari wrote, "I do hereby tender my resignation from my office as Minister. Steps may be taken for its immediate acceptance. I am simultaneously by e-mail this to His Excellency-Governor of West Bengal, for doing the needful at his end."

It needs mention here that Suvendu Adhikari has quit as minister for transport and irrigation, but remains a Trinamool MLA as he has not resigned from the Assembly. Nevertheless, thare have been speculations that he could be planning his exit from the party.
The Nandigram MLA has made no secret of his discontent within the Trinamool for the past two to three months, skipping all party and cabinet meetings. And, at his numerous rallies, there were no Trinamool flags, banners or portraits of the Chief Minister.

After the Minister's discontent with the party became clear, the TMC deployed senior MP Sougata Roy to talk to Mr Adhikari. At least two meetings were held in Kolkata, but neither yielded a breakthrough.
