The Yogi Adityanath-led UP Government has terminated the services of 25,000 Home Guards in Uttar Pradesh Police Department after the Supreme Court directive to pay them at par with the police constables.

The state police headquarters in Prayagraj issued an order stating that 25,000 home guards will be relieved of their duties. The decision to relieve these home guards of their duty was taken on August 28 in a meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary, said reports.
It has been known that the number of days required to report for duty by these home guards has been reduced from 25 to 15 days.
Reportedly, the decision was taken as a result of financial constraints, as informed by the State Government.
