Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commented on recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids in Jharkhand, emphasizing that the operations targeted individuals allegedly involved in infiltration activities rather than political figures.
"ED raids were not conducted at the residence of any political leader," Sarma stated, clarifying that the raids focused on "those who are conspiring and bringing infiltrators into the country and providing them with government identification documents." Sarma underscored that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had previously acknowledged the central government’s responsibility in addressing infiltration issues.
Sarma also called for the Election Commission to take action against Jharkhand's Health Minister Banna Gupta, urging his arrest over statements Gupta made that Sarma suggested warranted official scrutiny.
