Assam MP Gaurav Gogoi has questioned the security arrangements at the parliement house premises after the security breach which saw two persons jump in the into the House chamber.
Gogoi said that the incident has proved that there was no proper security preparations at the parliament house premises. He also said tha the government is trying to brush this security breach under the carpet. He further said that the BJP MP should be questioned on who passes the intruders entered.
"They should call and ask the MPs who caught them and are eyewitnesses. The government is trying to brush this breach, this gross negligence under the carpet. It was proved today that there are no security preparations. By God's grace, nothing happened to anyone. They should question the BJP MP on whose passes they came in. He is the first link and the government is not working on the first link," said the Assam MP.
Lok Sabha was engulfed in chaos on Wednesday afternoon after two men jumped into the House chamber. According to initial information, the two were carrying gas canisters. Describing the moment of the security breach, one Member of Parliament said that the two men came out of nowhere and there was yellow smoke in the air.
Both men have been detained and are being held at a police station. They have been identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan from Mysore.
Two protesters, a man and a woman, have also been detained outside the Parliament, while protesting carrying cans that emitted yellowish smoke. They have been identified as Neelam (42) and Amol Shinde (25).
The Wednesday security breach in Lok Sabha incidentally happened on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack during which armed terrorists stormed the Parliament building.
