Sikkim CM apprises Defence Ministry about re-examination of land at Yume Samdong Zero point

The Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang on Saturday urged the Defence Ministry for re-examination of land used by the Ministry at Yume Samdong Zero point.

GANGTOK: The Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang on Saturday urged the Defence Ministry for re-examination of land used by the Ministry at Yume Samdong Zero point.

The Chief Minister accompanied by Ministers B S Pant, MK Sharma and MP Indra Hang Subba called on the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his official residence on Saturday.

During the meeting, he added that the area is of great religious significance to the people and is also a renowned pilgrimage and tourist destination. In this regard, he raised the request to shift the temporary camp from the current location to Shonkoten.

Concerning the establishment of Key Location Point (KLP) under Chungthang Sub-Division in North Sikkim on the land identified by the Defence Ministry, he informed that the people are willing to provide land as per the State Government notified rates.

The Chief Minister also raised the subject of tunnelling from Sirwani to Gangtok, Sirwani to Legship and Sirwani to Namchi for which the DPR has been prepared by the Roads & Bridges Department, Sikkim and also requested for the increase of two more battalions of Sikkim Scouts of the Indian Army.
