After the tragic news of Mrs. DK Lepcha succumbing to her Covid-19 battle broke out, the state has been into complete shock. Responding to the news, Ex-Chief Minister of Sikkim Pawan Chamling shared his grief.

Praying for the rested soul, ChamIing said, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic news of Mrs DK Lepcha succumbing to her Covid-19 battle yesterday. She was lovingly called Manu Tataa. I am sorry to note that her husband Mr. Bhanu Lepcha (Beta) is also under quarantine. My prayer for him is that his test will be negative.”

The Ex CM further went on to talk about the late artist as he went on to describe her courage, talent and selflessness.

Chamling added, “She was a sincere and hardworking member. Her political involvement was driven by her commitment to the ideological stance of the SDF to social justice, feminism, etc. She was entrusted with the responsibility of the Convener of the party's Culture Wing. She also served as Panchayat from Arithing Ward. She remained a faithful comrade and a fellow soldier in our political mission in the SDF party till her death.

With her demise, Sikkim has lost a dedicated social worker, an able artist, and a familiar face. The SDF party has lost a faithful and sincere ideological companion. Her family lost a beloved, precious member.”

Senior artist of Sikkim DK Lepcha who was tested Covid-19 positive has passed away at STNM hospital on October 5. She was diabetic and was under treatment at STNM hospital.

Mrs Lepcha was known for her roles in Nepali films and music videos.
