SIKKIM: FPAS INVITES PLAYERS FROM ALL OVER NORTH EAST

The Football Players Association of Sikkim (FPAS) was formed on July 8 after a meeting attended by footballers of the State here at Paljor Stadium. The meeting had participation of around 50 footballers including those playing for different clubs in the State and those playing outside Sikkim.

Among those attending the meeting were ISL footballers Sanju Pradhan, Nirmal Chettri, Bikash Jairu, Robin Gurung, Kunzang Lachungpa and Uttam Rai. Footballers playing for clubs within Sikkim who attended the meeting included Nim Tshering Lepcha, Mayel Dok Lepcha, Klip Barfungpa, Ashish Chettri and Shenshah Ansari.

Nirmal informed that the meeting resulted in formation of the FPAS which would be an Association for and by the football players of Sikkim. There were many issues which were discussed during the meeting for the players. He mentioned that the players should avoid jumping from one club to another club within the same playing season. There were discussions on insurance for the players as they have to play in grounds where there are high chances of injuries.

The FPAS has now decided to hold another meeting on July 12 at Guards Ground, Tathangchen inviting all footballers, senior players or ex-players or young players and also women footballers.
