Central Joint Action Committee of All Sikkim Taxi Drivers Association has announced that taxis will remain off the roads in Gangtok for 3 days starting tomorrow. Taxis plying in areas between Pangthang and Ranipool will not ply on the roads.

This is being done in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Gangtok, they said. This is also being done to support contract tracing of positive cases and to help break the chain in the spread of the virus, they added.

This is a proactive step towards controlling the spread of the virus since the public should not always depend on the government to take steps, they further add.
