Sikkim government releases new COVID-19 guidelines; Check the details here

GANGTOK: The Sikkim government on Sunday issued guidelines for 'Surveillance, Containment and Caution of COVID-19 effective from December 1 upto December 31 or till further notice."

Movement of Public Transport within the State:

  • In order to regulate the movement of persons during the weekends, the following measures shall be taken:
  • On Saturdays, only those vehicles- Including private cars, taxis, government vehicles and two wheelers- bearing registration number ending with EMU digit shall be allowed to ply within the State.
  • On Sundays, only those vehicles (as defined above) bearing registration number ending with on digit, shall be allowed to ply within the State.
  • Government/Emergency vehicles on duty shall be exempted from the above arrangement.
  • Moreover, commercial goods vehicles including Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) shall be allowed to ply without any restrictions every day.

Restrictions on movement of vehicles and persons at night:

  • There shall be no movement of vehicles and persons after 9.00 PM till 6.00 AM every day except for emergency purposes. The District Police shall ensure strict compliance, stated the order.
  • This shall, however, not apply to commercial goods vehicles including LCVs and vehicles on emergency duty, it said.
  • Markets, Shops, Institutions, Commercial and Industrial establishments:
  • All commercial establishments -- including restaurants, bars, night clubs shall close by 9.00PM every day.

"All commercial establishments shall strictly follow social distancing norms. Installation of Aarogya Sete App by all employees shall be ensured by the Manager or the Proprietor, as the case may be," the order said.

The district authorities shall ensure that there is strict enforcement of wearing of face masks, hand hygiene and social distancing norms in market and commercial establishments.

It was further notified that government offices shall continue to remain closed on weekend till further orders.

Persons above 65 years or above with co-morbidities, pregnant women, and children below the age of 10 years shall stay at home, except for meeting essential requirements and health purposes, the order stated adding that the guidelines shall not apply to the area, locality or the premises declared as the Containment Zone by the concerned DM.

The restrictions on movement and activities allowed within the containment zone shall be as per the applicable guidelines issued by the MHA on November 25.
