In the view of current COVID-19 pandemic, the Health Department of Sikkim issued SOP for Inter-State movement after the Centre announced Unlock 4 guidelines. The SOPs shall be followed by the concerned from the 1st of September onwards.

The government instructed Rapid Antigen Tests to be stopped at Rangpo and Melli screening centre from 1 September since it is unreliable and creates a false sense of confidence if tests come negative. Also causes harassment to people since they have to quarantine despite coming negative.

It further mentioned that the quarantine period will be of 11 days whether home or facility quarantine. Further, there will be no testing on the completion of the quarantine period. The testing will be done only on the development of symptoms from 7th day onwards.
Those who wish to enter the state on short-duration travel (not exceeding 7 days) for business or other reasons will be allowed entry only through Rangpo check post and after registration in the COVID portal.

If they test positive they shall be treated as per standing SOP of the health department and the expenses shall be borne by them.

The charge for paid quarantine is fixed at Rs. 2000 per room and Rs.1000 for shared room per day. The cost of RTPCR test will be Rs. 3500.

Workers and labourers shall be allowed entry on the request of the employers who shall be responsible for the cost of tests and quarantine as well as the cost of treatment if test positive.

In other cases, the returnees shall undergo paid/facility quarantine for the period specified by the health department.
