Sikkim keeps religious places closed unlike other states

Places of worship were open in most states as part of what it called "Unlock1", more than two months after they were closed to check the spread of the coronavirus. The government had on Thursday announced new rules for allowing shopping malls, restaurants, hotels and places of worship to open gradually following the nationwide lockdown. The guidelines, which come into effect from today, include measures like staggering visitors to malls and no touching of idols at religious places. However, Sikkim had opted for a different path.

But in Sikkim religious places are not open as state government has not serve any notification on the same Religious leaders are saying until and unless we receive official notification we will not open our monastery, temples, churches and mosque.

As per the official source very soon cabinet meeting will be held and the meeting will decide on the opening of the religious places and restaurants but must tell here is that in Sikkim total positive case is seven.

Earlier, In Sikkim, 4 cases of covid19 positive have been detected. Among the 4 cases, 2 are from South Sikkim and 2 belong to East Sikkim.

The two from South Sikkim who was at Kamrang quarantine facility were sent home after completing 14 days of quarantine and their test results had been earlier sent to North Bengal Medical College. The results came on Saturday confirming that they were COVID positive. One is a 29-year-old female and the other is a 37-yr-old female.

India COVID-19 cases so far risks in Sikkim

India has crossed 2 lakh-mark in terms of corona positives on June 3rd. On June 8th, the country currently has 2,47,000+ confirmed COVID-19 cases, 125381 active cases with 124094 cured and discharged. The total number of deaths is 7135.
