Responding to the attack on his convoy by supporters of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) on Thursday, five-time former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling alleged that it is an attack on "democracy".
In his response to the dastardly attacks, Chamling said that the incident depicts a signal of danger for the future of Sikkim. "I want to urge the people to come together. We should fight against these anti-social elements together to ensure a bright future for the state of Sikkim."
Chamling also stated that the people are in a constant state of fear ever since the SDF party was ousted after the 2019 General elections after the PS Golay-led SKM party came to power.
"People want me to come back to power so that peace and stability can reign in Sikkim once again", Chamling asserted.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chamling's daughter, Komal, was reportedly injured after SKM supporters attacked the SDF party president Pawan Chamling’s vehicle at Upper Salghari under Poklok Kamrang during a pre-election campaign.
Chamling escaped unhurt, but his vehicle was damaged in the attack. His daughter Komal Chamling, who was in the vehicle, sustained some light injuries in the attack after getting hit by a stone, it was learnt.
