GANGTOK: Thirty six year old mountaineer from Sikkim, Manita Pradhan, scaled Mount Everest on Tuesday joining the ranks of a handful of women mountaineers who have achieved the feat.
Reportedly Pradhan reached the summit at 5AM on Tuesday morning.
A resident of Soreng, West District; Pradhan is the daughter of BM Pradhan and Prem Kumari Pradhan.

Earlier in April, Pradhan made history by successfully summiting Lobucha Peak in Nepal.
Union sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday had flagged off the Everest Massif Expedition 2021 from New Delhi.
Another woman from Northeast Tashi Yangjom scaled Mount Everest in the month of May becoming the first Indian woman climber to summit the world's highest peak this year.
