Recently, Sikkim witnessed yet another sexual harassment case. This time the case has been reported from Prison District in Namchi South Sikkim.

Reportedly, a woman employee of the above-mentioned prison has lodged a complaint that one male colleague Bhanu Bhakta Chettri, who is superior to her has been sexually harassing her since 2018. She further mentioned in her complaint that the man has made sexual remarks and asked for sexual favors on several occasions over that past three years during his duty hours.

Recently he had also started threatening her. Since the complainant could not bear the sexual advances anymore, she disclosed it to her family members and came to the police seeking legal action against the accused.

A case has been filed under section 354’A’/506 IPC at Namchi Police station. However, the accused was released on bail considering his medical condition.
