Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lakhya Konwar has been appointed as the General Secretary of the Assam Olympic Association.
Speaking to Inside Northeast, Konwar said that the election was held uncontested, and the members will take charge of their posts soon.

"After the election of the new members, the Assam sports organizations will be brought under the Olympic body, and they we will seek to discover the undiscovered talents of Assam" Konwar said.

"The Government will undertake initiatives to ensure that the sporting talents in the State get due recognition after vigorous training and better infrastructural facilities", Lakhya Konwar added.
The following leaders have been chosen as the Vice Presidents: Atul Bora, Siddhartha Bhattacharjee, Pijush Hazarika, Hagrama Mohilary, Ranee Narah, Tuliram Sharma, Ritu Boron Sharma, Jayanta Boro, Murli Choudhary, and Raj Kakoty. Tapan Das has been chosen as the Treasurer.
