Cancer Survivor Purabi Das Kalita Named Mascot of 'Pinkathon' Guwahati

Guwahati, November 14, 2019:

Pinkathon has named Purabi Das Kalita, a cancer survivor, as the ‘Guwahati 10 Km Mascot’. The marathon, which celebrates womanhood, will be kicked off on November 17, at the Ganesh Mandir Indoor Stadium Field in Guwahati's Khanapara.

The 56 year-old mascot is a headmistress and lives with her husband and two daughters.

She has been running at Pinkathon for the last 3 years. In 2017, despite her chemotherapy treatment, she participated in Pinkathon and ran 3 Km.

A busy woman who actively involves in social activities, Purabi never misses her fitness schedule. She says everyone can allot some time for fitness regardless of their busy life.

In 2017, her biopsy result came positive. She found it very difficult to handle the situation but still, she faced the outcome bravely and bounced back.

In 2018, she was awarded Best Teacher (district level) and also she received Anuprerona Award 2018 from GNRC for her active participation in projects for the empowerment of society. Purabi Das Kalita was also awarded “Iron Lady” award by Round Table India.

The Cancer survivor believes in willpower and positive energy. She says “positive thinking and willpower play a vital role in health.” She admires that Pinkathon is doing a wonderful contribution to inspire and encourage women to follow an active lifestyle.
