India Hockey Team Goalkeeper Savita Completes 200 International Caps for India

New Delhi, October 4, 2019:

Indian Women Hockey team’s goalkeeper, Savita on Friday completed the milestone of 200 international caps for the country during the fifth and final match of India tour to England.

The match took place in Marlow between India and Great Britain.

29-year-old Savita was the Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the Hockey World League Round 2 in Canada that was held in 2017. She was also a part of the team during the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in 2016 victory.

As a goalkeeper, Savita saved two crucial penalty shoot-outs and clinched bronze to India in the eighth edition of the Asia Cup which was held in Malaysia in 2013.

Savita made her debut when she was 20 years old. She also participated in the Rio Olympics in 2016. She was a member of the team which made it to the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2018 held in London.

She has also conferred the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2018.
