Guwahati, February 15, 2020:

Srinivas Gowda, a man who participated in a Kambala buffalo race (a popular, indigenous sport of Karnataka) has sent social media into a tizzy after he ran 100 metres in 9.55 seconds.

In this sport, a pair of buffaloes are set loose to run through a course of 100 meters slightly submerged in water and its handler has to run with them while holding the leash. Now, Gowda has purportedly run the distance in record time and a video of his run is now being shares on the internet.

Remarkably, the Karnataka man has completed the distance in less time compared to the current record holder -- Jamaican sprint king and Olympic legend Usain Bolt.

Meanwhile, there are murmurs that perhaps the time measurement in the race was not completely accurate. Moreover, the man from Moodabidre in Karnataka would have been assisted in his running by the momentum of the bulls.

However, Union Sports Minister and Arunachal Pradesh MLA Kiren Rijiju has promised that the man would be tested for his abilities at a top centre in the country. "Officials from SAI have contacted him. His rail ticket is done and he will reach SAI centre on monday. I will ensure top national coaches to conduct his trials properly. We are team Narendra Modi ji and will do everything to identity sporting talents!", Rijiju wrote on Twitter.
