New Delhi, June 29, 2019:

Highly proactive Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju, met the Indian woman's hockey team on Tuesday to congratulate them for winning the FIH Series Finals held in Hiroshima from June 15-June 23.

A message posted on Rijiju's official Twitter handle read : "The real Chak De India Team. Will provide best facilities and supports to our Women's Hockey Team and all those athletes who have qualified as well as playing in qualification rounds for Tokyo 2020."

Now, the team has their sights firmly set on the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo as they will now participate in the 14-team FIH qualifiers to be held later this year.

Speaking to the media, Rijiju said: "We will do everything we can as we are now very close to qualifying and the qualifiers will be held close to November. Chances of qualification are high, and so is the hope of winning a medal. I have met the girls and their spirits are high. Despite the long journey of 12-15 hours, I could not see any signs of a jet lag. They are all in high spirits, no tiredness. I congratulate them, and as the new Sports Minister, promise to resolve all their problems."

Today in the morning, the proactive Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju reached the iconic Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports for a quick review and promised to take some immediate steps to revamp it as per the desires and suggestions of the players, coaches and the faculty.
