Leh, August 15, 2019:

Former Indian team Captain MS Dhoni spent India's 73rd Independence Day with jawans at an Army hospital in Ladakh, one of the two parts of the newly-bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir.

Dhoni, who holds an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army, reached Ladakh on Wednesday along with soldiers of the Parachute Regiment, which he is a part of.

Pictures of Dhoni visiting the jawans were circulated on online platforms, and people lauded the Indian cricketer for spending his Independence Day with jawans.

It may be mentioned that Dhoni is also expected to visit the Army's Siachen base on August 15 and is likely to pay his tributes to the martyrs at the Siachen War Memorial.

Dhoni had earlier skipper India's tour of the West Indies and is on a 2 month sabbatical from cricket to fulfil his duties for the Territorial Army.

Mahi's stint in Kashmir is part of his training, army sources have confirmed.
