Manu Bhaker and Anish Bhanwala Bag Gold at Nat'l Shooting C'ships to Secure Olympic Berth

Bhopal, December 24, 2019:

Manu Bhaker and Anish Bhanwala on Tuesday bagged the junior and senior golds at the National Shooting Championships in Bhopal.

Manu bagged the gold in the women’s 10m air pistol event, whereas, Anish bagged the gold in 25m rapid fire pistol. The duo represented Haryana at the National Shooting Championships.

17-year-old Manu shot 588 in the combined qualifications. She then went on to shoot 243 in the senior finals and 241.5 in juniors, finishing top of the charts. Manu Bhaker is ranked 4th in the world in the women’s air pistol rankings.

Shooting 237.8 in the final, Devanshi Dhama won silver in the senior event, while Yashaswini Singh Deswal shot 217.7 to bag the bronze. Yashaswini finished second in the combined qualifiers with a score of 577.

Securing the ranks, Manu and Yashaswini both have secured positions for the Tokyo Olympics.

On the other hand, 17-year-old Anish shot 28 in the final of the senior rapid-fire event and 33 in the junior event. He also topped qualification with a score of 582. The silver was bagged by Bhavesh Shekhawat from Rajasthan whereas, Vijayveer Sidhu bagged the bronze with scores of 26 and 22 respectively in the senior event.

In the juniors, Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu won silver with a score of 30 and Udhayveer Sidhu shot 25 to win bronze.
