Nagaland: Vekutho Soho wins 13th International Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship

Kohima, December 5, 2019:

Vekutho Soho, who is the son of the renowned wrestler Hukhoneyi Soho, emerged as the champion of the 13th International Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship, 2019, which was held at the Amphitheatre in Kisama Naga Heritage Village in Nagaland.

The strapping young lad from Nagaland, who is 24-years-old, weighs 81 kilos and stands 5'7 feet tall, and hails from Phek Village. The victor, Soho, walked away with a cash prize of 1.2 lakh, alongwith citations.

Mhasilhousie Nagi, aged 27, who is the son of Nisako Nagi from Jotsoma Village, stood as the first runner up and walked home with a cash prize of Rs 80,000, along with citations.

Reigning champion of Hornbill Champion & NWA champion Menuosetuo Yiese of Kohima Village & Kezhavizo Thevo of Chedema Village were the two losing final finalists and pocketed a sum of 30,000 each, along with citations.

Dushyant Singh from Delhi emerged as champion under Tourist category, while Ankit Singh from Delhi stood as the first runner-up. They were also felicitated with cash prizes and citations.

Earlier, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, Chairman of the NKVIB grace the opening ceremony as the chief guest.

NWA President Neivikuolie Khatsü delivered presidential address, Rev. Irlingtur Kauring, Pastor, ZBC Kohima invoked God's blessing, Dr. Hiabe Zeliang, Treasurer NWA chaired the function, while NWA Jt. Secy Peyekhriezo Dzuvichu administered oath to the wrestlers.
