Earlier, it was reported that the organisers planned to hold the match behind closed doors in line for the conflict in the region over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).

"The Hero Indian Super League Match 40 at Guwahati between NEUFC and Bengaluru FC is now open to spectators, with 6:00 pm kick-off," the ISL said in a statement.

The doors of the stadium will be open from 4:00 p.m onwards and spectators have been urged to take to their seats ahead of time.

Sports in Guwahati has taken a backseat after the Ranji Trophy cricket was suspended due to the curfew that was imposed amid the violent protests after the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Amid the riots that shook several parts of Guwahati city, a descent into anarchy was witnessed last week with heavy protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill forcing the authorities to place Guwahati under curfew from the night of 11 December, onwards. However, the curfew was relaxed on December 17.
