Northeast Olympic Games begins from Wednesday

Guwahati, October 23, 2018:

A 238-member team of athletes from Assam left for Imphal on Monday to take part in the first ever Northeast Olympic Games beginning on Wednesday.

The Assam team was accompanied by chef-de-mission to the Games Anup Choudhury.

The event will begin at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal. The other venues are Eastern Ground and DM College Indoor Stadium. All eight states of the Northeast will participate in 12 disciplines. Around 1,900 athletes will take part in the gala event.

According to reports, Assam will take part in all the 12 disciplines such as athletics (35), archery (26), badminton (10), weightlifting (18), wushu (25), judo (12), shooting (14), taekwondo (22), boxing (19, football (36 – men and women), table tennis (10) and karate (10).
