TOKYO: Indian shooter Manish Narwal and Singhraj Adhana made history in the Tokyo Paralympics shooting event on Saturday.

Manish Narwal won gold for India, while shooter Singhraj Adhana took silver in the P4 - Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 final at Asaka Shooting Range.

The 19-year-old Manish set a Paralympic record by winning the gold medal with 218.2 points, while Singhraj won his second medal of the Tokyo Paralympics with 216.7 points.

Sergey Malyshev of the Russian Paralympic Committee’s (RPC) won the bronze medal.

Singhraj Adhana got over to a stronger start in the final than the other two Indians, as he took the lead at the table after the first ten shots, earning 92.1 points.

Manish, who placed seventh in qualification, had a shaky start to the final, collecting 87.2 points in the first competitive stage.

Singhraj and Manish stepped up, as both shooters held their nerves against the Chinese pair's early charge in the elimination stage.

After the 18th shot, Manish dropped to fourth place. However, in his 19th and 20th shots, the 19-year-old Indian hit a spectacular 10.8 and 10.5 to beat Singhraj to first place.

In a battle for first place with a fellow countryman, Manish shot 8.4 and 9.1, while Singhraj shot 8.5 and 9.4 in his final two shots.
