GANGTOK: Footballer Reeya Lepcha, who represented Sikkim in the national level football tournament, passed away on Saturday at the age of 15.
Earlier, Lepcha was diagnosed with a brain tumour and the first surgery was conducted on October 28, 2020.
Lepcha hails from Sangkhu Radukhandu GPU, Maneybong-Dentam constituency in West Sikkim.
In November 2020, the Football Players' Association of Sikkim (FPAS) started a donation campaign to raise money for Lepcha's treatment. They managed to raise Rs 4 lakh.
